Helpful hints for travelling and framing your travel memories
When people travel and spend their holidays in a new and exciting destination, they often come across beautiful artwork that’s representative of that particular country’s artistic culture. Shopping for souvenirs is a staple part of the vacation experience. We seem to always be looking for cultural tokens that will bring back fond memories of our trip once it’s over. These momentos often take the form of prints and paintings that need to be framed in order to be put on display.
Common works of art that are popular among tourists range from charming Peruvian watercolours to Egyptian papyrus paintings, Indian silks, traditional African paintings, and small Tuscan watercolours. These souvenir type artworks are usually sold unframed. Special treatment needs to be used in the framing process to ensure the proper care of these particular materials. You might choose to remove prints from their frames, or paintings from their stretcher bars, and roll them in a tube to travel home with them. This is generally the safest and most cost-effective way to travel with works of art from overseas. If the work of art that you buy is too large to travel with and you wish to ship it home, it is also usually safest to ship paintings and prints rolled up in a tube.
